23 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Strikes on School and Aid Convoy in Gaza

At least 23 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on a Gaza school and aid workers, as the humanitarian crisis deepens amid calls for a ceasefire.

Israeli Strikes Kill 23 in Gaza, Including Families Sheltering in School

The ongoing Gaza conflict escalated further on Thursday as Israeli warplanes bombed a school sheltering displaced families, killing 13 people in Gaza City. According to Palestinian news agency Wafa, the Mustafa Hafez school was targeted in a predawn airstrike despite housing civilians fleeing the violence.

Doctors on the ground reported dozens of injuries in addition to the confirmed deaths, as emergency teams scrambled to respond amid devastation.

Humanitarian Aid Convoy Targeted

Elsewhere in western Gaza, Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid, killing six people. The victims had gathered in desperation for basic supplies, as the blockade and continuous airstrikes have left food, water, and medical resources critically scarce.

The incident marked yet another deadly blow to the humanitarian situation, with aid groups repeatedly warning that famine and disease are now rampant in many parts of the Gaza Strip.

More Civilian Casualties in Khan Younis and Jabaliya

In southern Gaza, an Israeli airstrike on tents for displaced families in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, killed three people, including a woman, and left several others wounded. The area, previously declared a “safe zone,” has seen repeated attacks despite the presence of non-combatants.

In a separate incident, one Palestinian was killed and three others were injured near a care center in Jabaliya, located in northern Gaza. The center, reportedly housing elderly and disabled individuals, became another unintended target in the relentless military campaign.

Over 57,000 Dead: Gaza’s Mounting Death Toll

Since October 2023, more than 57,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed in Israeli military operations across Gaza. Despite international demands for a ceasefire, the assault has continued unabated, prompting accusations of genocide and crimes against humanity.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants in November 2024 for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing their alleged roles in orchestrating war crimes in Gaza.

Simultaneously, Israel faces a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), reflecting the growing legal and diplomatic isolation faced by the Israeli government on the global stage.

Calls for Ceasefire Grow Louder

The attacks on schools, aid convoys, and displacement camps have intensified calls for an immediate ceasefire. Humanitarian organizations, including the United Nations, have described the situation as “apocalyptic”—with over two million civilians trapped under bombardment and siege.

Diplomatic efforts continue to stall as Israel’s leadership insists on continuing military operations, claiming the need to dismantle Hamas’ capabilities. Meanwhile, Palestinian civilians continue to bear the brunt of the violence.

Global Outrage and Legal Action

The mounting civilian casualties have sparked worldwide protests and renewed legal scrutiny. International human rights organizations have documented alleged war crimes, including deliberate targeting of civilians, indiscriminate bombing, and the collective punishment of Gaza’s population.

The International Criminal Court’s pending cases and the ICJ genocide hearings could shape the future of accountability in conflict zones, though immediate relief for the people of Gaza remains elusive.

A Humanitarian Catastrophe Unfolds

As Israeli airstrikes continue to devastate Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, and shelters, the region faces its worst humanitarian crisis in decades. With aid blocked, civilians under siege, and legal cases mounting, the urgency for a ceasefire has never been greater.

The world watches in horror as the death toll rises—while Gaza’s surviving population continues to endure unimaginable suffering.
